Marble tables and furniture pieces cut to size

A stone top turns a simple base into a piece you keep for years, as long as the stone suits how the table is used.

A dining table carries plates, glasses of juice and the occasional spilled tea. A coffee table in front of the sofa takes cups and the remote. A console by the entrance mostly holds keys and a vase. The same stone does not suit all three, and the finish matters as much as the colour.

We cut tabletops to the size and shape you need, whether round, oval, rectangular or custom, polish the edges, and can fit them to a base you already have or one your carpenter or metalworker is making. In the showroom you can see how different edges change the look, and talk through the weight the base will need to carry.

AvoidAvoid polished marble on a dining table if marks from lemon or juice will bother you. Do not put a quartz table in direct sun or on a terrace.

What to decide

Thickness and weight

Tabletops are commonly 2 cm or 3 cm. Stone is heavy, so the base and the floor need to carry the weight, and a large top may take several people to move.

Edges

A doubled edge makes a 2 cm top look thicker without the weight of a thick slab. Half-round and bevelled edges are softer and kinder around children.

Shapes

Round, oval and custom shapes are cut to a template. The corners of rectangular tops can be slightly rounded for safety.

Base

The base must be stable and level, with enough support under the stone. We can cut the top to fit your base, and we will tell you if a base looks too light for the stone.

Care

Use coasters and mats, wipe spills quickly, and clean with a mild cleaner made for stone. Marble and granite tops benefit from sealing where the stone needs it.

How the job goes

  1. Visit the showroom or send a sketch with sizes
  2. Choose the stone, finish and edge
  3. Agree the shape and how the top sits on the base
  4. Make a template for round or custom shapes
  5. Cut and polish the top
  6. Deliver and place it on the base

Questions people ask

Will a marble dining table stain?

Marble can stain from oil and coloured drinks, and it etches from acidic ones such as lemon juice. Sealing helps against stains but not against etching, so a honed finish and coasters make daily life easier.

Can you make a marble top for a base I already have?

Yes. Bring the base size, or photos with measurements, and we will cut the top to suit it and check that the base can carry the weight.

Is quartz a good choice for a dining table?

It is very practical, because it does not absorb stains and needs no sealing. Keep hot dishes on mats, and keep the table out of strong direct sunlight.

How thick should a marble coffee table top be?

2 cm is common and can be given a doubled edge to look thicker, while 3 cm looks solid on its own. The size of the top and the design of the base also affect the choice.
