Buyer’s guide

Plain answers to the questions we hear every day. Read these before you choose.

Marble vs granite vs quartz

Granite is the tough all-rounder, quartz is the easy-care engineered option, and marble is the classic natural look that asks for more care. The right one depends on where the stone goes and how you use it.

Choosing a kitchen countertop

Start with how you cook, then pick the colour and finish. A hard, low-maintenance stone in a shade that hides your daily mess will serve you longer than a slab that only looked good in a photo.

Egyptian vs imported marble

Choose Egyptian stone when you want beige, golden or grey tones that are easy to find again later. Choose imported stone when you need a white, black, blue or dramatic vein that Egyptian quarries do not produce.

Stone finishes explained

Polished is shiny and deepens colour, honed is smooth and matte, and textured finishes such as flamed or bush-hammered add grip for outdoor and wet areas. Choose the finish for the place first, then for the look.

Thickness and edge profiles

For a normal countertop, 2 cm with a laminated edge and plain 3 cm both work; the choice depends on spans, overhangs and the look you want. Pick the edge profile for safety and style, and add drip grooves on sills and anti-slip grooves on stairs.

How installation works

Installation follows a clear order: you choose the stone, we measure on site, you approve the actual slabs, we cut and finish the pieces, then we install, polish, seal and hand over. Visit timing and the schedule are details we confirm on the visit.

What decides the price

The price per metre depends on the stone itself, how it is cut and finished, and how hard it is to install at your site. Two quotes for the same stone name can differ because of grade, thickness, edges, waste and access.

North Coast and outdoor stone

Outdoors and near the sea, choose a light-coloured stone with a textured, grippy finish, such as flamed granite or honed or tumbled travertine and limestone. Keep polished stone and quartz indoors, and seal stone around pools.
