About this stone
Rouge de Roi is a deep oxblood-brown stone filled with long rust-red lenses and fine dark veins, with small grey flecks here and there. It has the look of old libraries and period interiors, rich and low-key rather than bright.
It suits fireplace surrounds, table and console tops, wall panels and borders, and it pairs well with white or cream marble, gilt and dark timber. In a small floor inlay it adds depth next to paler stone. Because it is dark, polished surfaces show dust, water spots and fine scratches readily, and acids will leave dull marks.
Care
Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and keep lemon, vinegar and strong sprays off it. Reseal about once a year, more often on a tabletop.
Better avoided for
- Kitchen countertops
