About this stone
Khatmeya sits between beige and true yellow: a warm, pearly ground with pale gold clouding, small shell-like marks and the odd thin brown line. Its colour is consistent enough to run through a whole flat, from the living room floor to the stairs and window sills, and it warms up rooms that get little sun. Polished it has a gentle shine; honed it looks close to a soft limestone.
Like other Egyptian marbles it is fairly soft. Grit scratches the polish, and lemon, vinegar and strong cleaners leave dull patches. Normal heat is not a problem. The honest caveat: unsealed, it can absorb oil and coffee, and on a busy kitchen countertop it will dull and stain quickly.
Care
Seal after installation and yearly after that. Clean with water and a neutral cleaner, and wipe oil or coffee spills straight away.
