About this stone
Forsan Red is a dark red-brown granite with a finer, more even grain than the Aswan reds. From across the room a polished surface looks calm and close to one colour, which makes it easy to live with on a long kitchen countertop or staircase. It sits well next to dark wood, bronze handles and black metal railings.
It is hard, handles hot pans and resists scratches from everyday use, and its dark tone hides small stains. Leathered, it has a soft surface that is pleasant to touch. The caveat: a quiet, even stone shows joints and chipped edges more clearly than a busy one, so ask for rounded or bevelled edges.
Care
Wipe with warm water and a mild soap, and avoid acid or bleach cleaners. A polished surface benefits from sealing every one to two years.
