About this stone
Aswan Red is a coarse granite of red-pink feldspar with black and smoky grey grains, the same stone Egypt has quarried since pharaonic times. On a kitchen countertop it reads warm and lively, so crumbs and water marks disappear into the pattern, and on a staircase it looks solid and traditional.
It is hard and dense: knives, pots and hot pans do little to it, and a polished surface keeps its shine for years. Flamed, it becomes a grippy surface for entrances and gardens. The honest caveat is the colour itself: it is strong and will lead the room, so pair it with plain white or wood cabinets rather than busy tiles.
Care
Wipe with warm water and a mild soap, and avoid acid or bleach cleaners. Reseal a kitchen countertop every one to two years.
