About this stone

Hashma is a warm sandy beige with a fine, even grain and tiny pale flecks. There is almost no veining, so it looks calm on a big floor, a staircase or an outside wall.

It is one of the denser Egyptian beiges, which is why it is a common choice for building fronts, terraces, pool edges and entrance steps. Honed, it has a matt, slightly waxy surface that hides small scratches. For outdoor steps and wet areas, ask for a sandblasted or bush-hammered finish so it is not slippery. It is still marble: acids and strong cleaners mark it, so it is not a kitchen countertop stone.

Care

Sweep and wash with water and a neutral cleaner. Outside, reseal every year or two, and never use acid to remove cement stains.
