About this stone
Miele is Italian for honey, and the name places this stone in the warm yellow onyx family. The slab pictured is a pale cream-yellow crystalline surface with deeper mustard patches drifting through it. Lit from behind, the yellow warms towards amber and the crystal texture shows clearly.
It suits backlit walls, bar and reception fronts, vanity fronts and lighting panels where warm light is wanted. Colour varies between blocks, so view the actual slab before deciding. As an onyx it scratches and etches easily, so it is not for kitchen counters, floors or outdoor areas.
Care
Clean with a pH-neutral stone soap and wipe spills, especially lemon, vinegar and juice, straight away. Reseal on a regular schedule and use coasters and mats, since onyx etches and scratches easily.
Better avoided for
- Kitchen countertops
- Floors
- Stairs
