About this stone
A paler, softer member of the Botticino family: an ivory ground with a mottled, cloudy texture instead of the strong zigzag lines of the classic stone. Fiorito means flowered in Italian, and up close the surface does have a soft, blossom-like pattern that reads almost plain from a distance.
It suits floors, bathroom walls and vanities, window sills and stairs in homes that want a light, calm look with a little life in it, and its pale colour makes rooms feel open. The caveat is that a pale mottled marble shows oil and rust stains readily, so seal it well and keep it away from heavy cooking areas.
Care
Use a stain-resistant sealer and renew it regularly. Wipe oil and coffee straight away and clean with neutral soap.
Better avoided for
- Outdoor & facades
- Kitchen countertops
